YNOTtawasaga Youth Council

 

YNOTtawasaga is a youth empowerment program currently operating 3 councils in Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil, with a third council covering New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio and Essa Townships, also known as YNOT “AT NET”. 

 

The program supports the empowerment of rural youth to gain ownership of their community, promote connectivity and provide a pro-active voice for local improvements within their municipality. YNOTtawasaga's focus is:

* Orienting interested young people in the roles and responsibilities of being part of a volunteer organization

* Helping youth develop policies and procedures

* Producing a vision that represents the focus and interests of youth

* Initiating and implementing community projects and activities identified by youth as neccessary for success

* Identifying existing assets and resources in the community and raising youth's awareness of their existence

* Giving youth an outlet to build skills and experience that can build on their resume

YNOTtawasaga is an initiative of the Nottawasaga Community Futures Development Corporation.  YNOT is short for “Youth – Nottawasaga.”

 

Nottawasaga Community Futures Development Corporation (NCFDC)

 

Nottawasaga Futures is an independent non-profit corporation created in 1996 to identify, develop and coordinate programs and initiatives to meet the varied economic needs of the communities which make up South Simcoe. The organization’s mission is to create an environment of choice and opportunity to maximize community economic development opportunities in South Simcoe.

 

Nottawasaga Futures offers a number of programs to fully support the youth of our community, such as the YNOTtawasaga Youth Council, Youth Business adVenture Program and ongoing business support through business and entrepreneurship courses offered in our local high schools.
